Shooting a gun without wearing ear protection is a good way to cause damage to your hearing, both short, and long term.  There are several options on the market for ear protection while shooting, and different caliber firearms can give off different levels of sound. The best shooting ear protection will probably vary per person because of this, however, we’ve put together a list of some of the top shooting ear protection available.

Pro For Sho Passive Hearing Protection Ear Muffs


These Pro For Sho earmuffs are a low-cost option, around $20, that still provide good protection. They come in a variety of colors and have a NRR of 34 dB. They are also foldable, lightweight, and compact making them easy to tote around. These are a wonderful option if you’re just starting shooting or know that you won’t shoot all that often and don’t want to drop a ton of money on shooting ear protection.

Peltor Sport Tactical 500


The Peltor Sport Tactical 500 ear muffs are another ear muff choice if you’re looking to invest a little more in your ear protection, with a price point of around $130. The main difference with these earmuffs is that there are no wires for the audio, as they are Bluetooth enabled. They also have an auto shut-off feature that allows for battery life to be preserved.
